I always had problems coming up with names for the Unreal maps. During the Half-Life days people would name their maps after some defining feature or location like "ship","bridge" or "italy". Usually the concepts for unreal maps are too "out there" to apply this logic. I came up with the naming convention of calling my names after medical conditions or diseases but broke it after only 2 maps. Skorbut was originally released for UT2K3, that release however was one of the weirdest freak accidents that has ever happened to me: After compiling the final version of the map I launched it ingame and walked away to do some chores when I came back I tested the map and everything seamed to work just fine so I zipped the map up and released it to the public. I was instantly bombarded with comments that said that the map froze their machines and that they had to reboot ... what really happened is that the unreal load screen freezes for roughly 10 minutes and than the map starts just fine. None of the versions before the final compile had this symptom and I couldn't figure out why the last changes I did would create a problem like this it was all just cosmetic minor stuff like changing some UV-mapping. I could also not figure out how to fix it neither by undoing any of the recent changes nor deleting big parts of the level. The map was permanently corrupted. But since this map was pretty much my favorite Unreal map graphics and gameplay wise I took it upon myself to completely rebuild it from scratch in Unrealed for UT2K4 based on the already existing Maya geometry and textures.
