This UT2K3 model was based on a piece of concept art by Stephko "_shimmer" Viranyi with whom I had worked previously on "Project Timeless" and who would later rope me in to help out a bit on "Heroes of might and magic 5". He never seamed too interested in the geometry aspect of models (at least at that point). He was all about the texturing and asked me if i could make him a model and a UV-map for his drawing. I liked the drawing a lot so I agreed. He didn't seam too pleased with the final model that i made and claimed that I took too much liberties with the topology of the muscles and he disowned the design. So I painted a texture for it and used it as an Easter-Egg in the map dm-frozen as a sort of alien frozen yeti ... cyborg. I released it as a stand alone player model afterwards when I learned how to rig models with 3D Studio Max since the unreal skeleton was only available for Max at that point. This model actually sort of scored a prize in the "Make Something Unreal Contest". I submitted all my models and levels I had made when the deadline had arrived even though I didn't actually make anything specifically for the contest. But the entry formula was so horribly unintuitive/none user-friendly and the servers where constantly busy so that it would time out during the submission. I got fed up at some point (after roughly 5 attempts) and didn't bother to submit each piece separately and just copy pasted links to all the stuff into one submission to speed up the whole "loosing connection trying again form square one"-process. This form with all the links in one seamed to have gone through successfully(as far as i could tell). the winners of phase one in the level design category got announced and there was a big outcry from the community that none of my stuff was among the winning maps. Someone from epic (I think it was cliffy himself actually) posted that none of my maps were in the pool of submitted maps and that they would have scored something if they had been there for the consideration. A week or so later the character model winners of phase one got announced and this model got an honorable mentioning. Despite it not being submitted (that was nice of epic). So even though its original designer doesn't like the model apparently someone at epic does and so do I.
